A career as a physical therapist can be pretty lucrative considering United States alone needs more physical therapist than ever. This is why many choose this career over others. But before investing time and money to study and become one, you may ask yourself, what are the pros and cons?
Many find this career financially rewarding considering that a physical therapist salary as of 2011 starts at a minimum annual income of $73,000. Aside from the financial rewards, you’ll get to see people meet their goals. Being a one on one treatment method kind of job and seeing your patient’s gratitude in their faces for helping them get out of the pain and gain independence is unconditionally satisfying.
According to many practitioners the drawback would probably be the span of schooling since starting from scratch takes 6 to 7 years to finish the course. But for those who already have a BS degree including some prerequisites, it only takes 4 to 5 years. You’ll need to know every muscle and bones of the human body to gain all the skill set you’ll need in this career.
